Background Checks

Council Rock United Soccer is proud to announce its partnership with
National Center for Safety Initiatives (NCSI) with whom we will engage
in a comprehensive background screening program for our coaches and
volunteers to ensure the highest level of safety within our programs.
The background screening uses NCSI’s Check it Twice™ product and a
simple “Red Light/Green Light” clearance report issued in accordance
with the Recommended Guidelines® published by the National Council of
Youth Sports.  Council Rock United Soccer has worked with NCSI to ensure
that this process is convenient, secure and confidential.

This background screening process applies to all club personnel and
volunteers who work with our children.  This includes Coaches, Assistant
Coaches, Team Managers, Trainers, the Board of Directors, office
adminstrative staff and others as necessary.  Generally, the simple test
to determine if screening is required is anyone coaching or training our
players, or anyone who would have reason to be in an authority role with
the players as part of a soccer-related activity.  An example of someone
who would not need to be screened is a parent who helps out during
practice while another screened coach/assistant or manager/trainer is
present, or a parent who provides transportation for another player with
that player’s parental consent. It is the Head Coach’s responsibility to
ensure that assitants, trainers (both inside the club and outside), team
managers, others associated with their team comply with these
requirements and complete the screening BEFORE they interact with your
players.  For travel teams we have assumed that generally, a Head Coach,
Assistant Coach, and possibly Team Manager (if they are different from
the coach/assistant and will be in a position to supervise players
without the coach/assistant) will register.  For intramural teams it was
assumed that the head coach would register.  If you have questions about
your situation or will be registering more team officials, email us at
admin@crusa.net for clarification.   Note that by federal regulation -
minors under the age of 18 cannot complete this screening.  Accordingly,
all minors undere the age of 18 must be supervised by an adult with a
current background screening. The screening must be renewed online
annually from the month of initial application.  There is no cost to the
applicant - all costs to implement this new system are covered by player
registration fees.

To complete your background screening, simply go to
http://www.ncsisafe.com and click on “Background Check Self
Registration” on the left side of the webpage.  Complete four easy
steps:
Step 1: Enter Self Registration Number: 69725360
Step 2: Enter Your Information as Requested
Step 3: Provide Legal Authorization and Certification
Step 4: Upon completion, please send an email with your name and the
Applicant ID# generated by the website to admin@crusa.net with the email
subject line "Background Check".

It is important when entering your name, that you use your full legal
name as written on your birth certificate or driver’s license. Please
also verify that your social security number was typed correctly. Using
nicknames or failing to type a correct social security number may delay

If you have any questions or problems submitting your information
online, please call the National Center for Safety Initiatives at (866)
833-7100 x109.  Other questions about the background screening can be
submitted by email to admin@crusa.net.

The “Red Light/Green Light” Results will be sent to Council Rock United
Soccer. National Center for Safety Initiatives will contact you directly
if there are any questions, problems or issues related to your specific
information.

Thank you for your continued support of CRUSA and for playing your part
in ensuring the safety and well being of our players.
